"Readings & Rhymes" Open Mic

We're sponsoring an open mic at the Olive Branch on Saturday, July 11th from 2-4PM. The event is open to the public and we encourage the community to come and share their poetry, short stories and other original creative works. A sign-up sheet will be on-hand starting at 2PM and participants will be called on a first-come first-served basis. We hope to see you there! Contact Amy Rivers at (575) 430-7543 for more information.

New Library Book Club

Due to the library closing on Sundays, the library book club will begin meeting the last Monday of each month from 6-8 pm in the Rhodes Room.

June 29: The Soul of a New Machine by Tracy Kidder

July 27: Nothing Right: Short Stories by Antonya Nelson

August 31: The Red Tent by Anita Diamant

Copies of each book are available for check-out at the library.

At June book club gathering, we'll be deciding on the future books. Please bring your favorites with you!

Volunteer Help Needed for Book Sales

The Alamogordo Public Library Foundation booksale needs your help. Do you:

Like books? Have extra time on your hands? Like doing something worthwhile for the community? Enjoy working under less than perfect conditions? Like to laugh but still work hard? Are you retired but not too tired?

The semi-annual book sales are the Library Foundation's premier fundraiser. Money raised goes toward library projects, including the children's Summer Reading Program and the new library building. You can help.

We need a few good volunteers who are physically able to help us prepare for the spring booksale. You must be able to work in the cold, tolerate dust, be able to lift, stoop, and walk on cement floors. If you love to organize, that is a plus!

Please call Joyce and she can answer any questions you may have about volunteering. Home # is 439-0266 and cell # is 430-1893. We look forward to working with you.
